Senior Teacher, Early Childhood Education
Sarah graduated with her Early Learning and Childcare Diploma from Bow Valley College, has been completely committed to this line of work throughout her career, and working with children is her passion. She loves to teach through play! She is also First Aid C certified.
She has an almost one-year old son, two cats and a wonderful husband.
Sarah also loves to be outdoors in nature going for walks or hikes.
Pauline has worked with people of all ages and abilities in the recreation setting for 11 years and believes that play is important for all stages of life. She also has experience in the food preparation and cooking department. She is hoping to become a teacher and is currently finishing her undergraduate multidisciplinary degree with a minor in Sociology and a minor in Community Rehabilitation and Disability Studies.
She has mostly worked with children ages 2 - 9 years, however, through many practicum placements, she has had the opportunity to work with all ages, including seniors. Recently, she implemented a play project at a senior’s residence, where preschoolers and school age children have interacted with residents in a play setting. She said it was amazing to watch not only the kids take something away from the experience but to see the residents have a chance to play and have fun as well. She believes that play is the best way to learn, and loves seeing how children explore in different ways to learn about the world.
Her favourite moments are when she see people start to make connections; when they make a new friend or think of a new idea or figure out a new solution. Being a kid is all about getting messy, learning about the world, and making friends with everyone.
She also brings additional language skills of Mandarin Chinese to our team.
Jessirae grew up on a small island in northern British Columbia. As a child she spent nearly all her free time outside and her love of nature has followed her into adulthood. As an educator she loves sharing her love of nature with children by bringing natural materials into the classroom, spending time outdoors and teaching children about the world around them.
She started her career in the Early Education Field by taking her Level 1 Child Care certification at Grant McEwan University in 2007. Even though working with children had never crossed her mind before, she immediately knew this was what she wanted to do and has been working with children ever since. She has been in the field for over ten years now. Recently she decided to pursue higher education and is currently working towards her diploma in Early Childhood Education.
When she is not in the classroom you will find her doing things like hiking, camping, fishing, reading, cooking, gardening, or horseback riding.
