-Alberta Daycare Qualifications Certificate (Worker or Supervisor level), (Early Childhood Education Certificate or recognized equivalent by Alberta Government Licensing dept. as level 2 or 3)
-A passion for delivering high quality and care and education to children
-Leadership and mentorship skills
-Experience creating lesson plans and curriculum plans
-Experience working with children aged 12 months - 6 years in a licensed child care setting
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including basic computer literacy
-Current Standard First Aid and CPR C certification (CPR re-certified within the last 12 months)
-Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search dated within 6 months of the interview
-Two professional references
What does this role look like at Right Start Daycare?
This position is full -time and will work 37-40 hours per week between the hours of 6am - 6:30pm, Monday through Friday. Flexibility of the successful applicant’s personal schedule is required to ensure area needs are met. This person is the Lead Teacher in their classroom and will be responsible for lesson planning and implementation with their children. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, is a hard worker, detail oriented, and highly dedicated to their role. This candidate needs to deliver excellent client service to our parents, ensure that all the compliance components of running their classroom are in line, and participate in all required procedures of the daycare. The successful candidate will bring a positive enthusiasm to the table in respect to lesson planning, documentation of children's education, and their own ideas on how we can make Right Start the very best it can be for our kids.
The successful individual in this role will:
-Plan and facilitate intentional, developmentally appropriate play-based learning activities. This includes engagement in active play indoors and outside, and center experiences.
-Work well in a team environment and in collaboration with others
-Be flexible with the business and also contribute great ideas to enhance our program and children's experience
-Effectively implement Right Start’s Learning Curriculum and policies
-Ensure a safe and clean environment that is in good repair
-Positively represent Right Start Daycare both internally and with the broader community

The Right Start Daycare Chef is responsible for menu planning, purchasing of groceries and supplies and daily preparation of nutritious meals and snacks served to the children (ages 12 months to 6 years) enrolled in the center. The kitchen is to be managed and the work of the Chef is to be conducted in strict compliance with Health Department and all other applicable legislation. The Chef works in consultation with the General Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen and its coordination with the other programs of the center.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
Kitchen
· Advance planning of lunch menus and snacks in accordance with the Canada Food Guide; posting of menus for parents and staff
· Conduct housekeeping tasks necessary to maintain the kitchen in an organized, clean, safe and hygienic condition at all times
· Deliver and collect lunch/snack trays to/from all on-site programs
· Complete clean up after each meal (i.e. dishes, counter tops, etc.)
· Meets with Health Inspector as required to ensure kitchen and practices are in compliance with City’s health code.
· Regular inventory of kitchen equipment and supplies
Ordering/Purchasing
· Purchase all groceries in order to implement the planned menus, in consideration of the Centre’s food budget and in consultation with the General Manager
· Unpacking and checking of orders
Program Support
· Establish and maintain open communication with parents regarding children’s dietary restrictions, allergies, etc.
· Assist in administration of first aid, as required
· Participate in fire drills and other emergency procedures as necessary
Other
· Attend staff/program meetings as required
· Attend professional development and other relevant training opportunities when available, e.g. in order to remain current with respect to Health Department regulations on proper food handling, etc.
· Other duties; participation in special events as assigned by the General Manager
· Assists the General Manager in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by promptly reporting any existing and/or potential workplace hazards
Qualifications
High School Diploma. Experience as a cook, preferably in a child care centre setting. Familiarity with planning and implementing menus around the Canada Food Guide and within City Health Department guidelines. Ability to work in a positive and productive manner within a team. The ability to relate well to children, staff and parents is essential. Negative criminal records check.
